The Executive Director provides strategic and operational leadership to advance the Alberta Assessment Consortium’s (AAC) vision and mandate.

  • The role promotes AAC’s resources and services, fosters partnerships with education stakeholders, and oversees the development of high-quality, curriculum-aligned classroom assessment resources and professional learning.
  • The Executive Director manages the administration and budget of the Consortium and reports to the AAC Board of Directors.
  • The role supports AAC’s objectives and membership growth within a complex educational environment. This senior leadership position is offered on a personal service contract or secondment basis.

The role is based in Edmonton and is a 12-month appointment, with start of term and compensation negotiated with the successful candidate. Hybrid work opportunities are available; however, regular in-office attendance in Edmonton is required.

Turn Your Math Passion Into Practice!

The Alberta Assessment Consortium (AAC) is seeking a Math Assessment Resource Designer to develop high-quality, authentic performance assessments that reflect how students use mathematics in meaningful contexts.

About the Role

  • Collaborate with AAC to design inquiry-based classroom-ready assessment tasks for mathematics

What You’ll Do

  • Develop authentic, curriculum-aligned performance tasks for Grades 7–12.

  • Create tasks that encourage reasoning, problem-solving, communication, and real-world application.

  • Model assessment practices that reflect current research on effective mathematics assessment.

  • Provide task rationales and teacher supports that make the assessment usable and instructionally valuable.

  • Work collaboratively with AAC staff and other writers (as needed).

What You Bring

  • Strong knowledge of the Alberta K–12 Math Curriculum, with experience in Grades 7–12.

  • Expertise in creating or using authentic assessments (tasks that go beyond traditional tests).

  • Comfortable using Google Workspace tools (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms) to create, share, and organize assessment tasks.

  • Commitment to improving student learning through meaningful assessment.
